Vocabulary

Characters List:

Pi (Piscine Monitor Patel): Pi is the principal character of the book. He is a student of zoology and religion. He preferred to be called Pi.

Richard Parker: He is The Bengal tiger that shares the lifeboat with Pi.

Ravi: He is the older brother of Pi. He is very popular.

Hyena: He was the most violent animal in the boat and he was eaten by Richard Parker.

Tomohiro Okamoto: He is an official of the Marine department that is investigating Pi story but he doesn`t believe anything that Pi said.

For my first image I chose a person sad and worried because I think Pi is disappointed when Tomohiro Okamoto and Mr. Chiba didn`t believe his story. Personally I chose it because I think that we have to believe in persons and not to be that way.

For my second image I chose a dark room because when Pi was at the interview they said we have to see to believe, personally I think we have to believe to see.

For my last image I chose a tiger lost because when Pi and Richard Parker arrive to Mexico, Richard Parker get lost and they could not find him. Personally I believe that Richard Parker is looking for his home.

Photos

1.       The first photo I took to some bananas because of when Tomohiro Okamoto and Atsuro Chiba ask Pi about the ship , He told all of his story, but they didn`t believe about the bananas floating in the sea. When Pi shows them in the sink that bananas float they were shock (P.293-294, Chapter 99). Personally I took this photo because I love bananas and I find it very interesting that they float.

1.       My second photo I took to a chocolate bar. Mr. Chiba used it to calm down Pi because he was arguing about Richard Parker. ( P.298, Chapter 99) Personally I chose because I found it very rude that Mr. Chiba tried to avoid Pi talking about that and shut up him in a very rude way.

1.       For my third and last photo I took it to a non-believer person next to the church because Tomohiro Okamoto and Asturo Chiba were non-believers in the things Pi said and personally I chose the photo because it describes the feeling that they have about Pi.

Statements:

1.       I find it very interesting the way Pi does not like to be called by his real name and changes it for a mathematical equation, because he does not want people bully him.

2.       I like a lot when Pi describes his life in the zoo because I like animals and I would like to try living with animals.

3.       My favorite part was when Pi gets stuck in the middle of nowhere with all these animals, because he found a very rare opportunity to a new experience.

4.       I like the way that Pi describes all the things that happen in the lifeboat I love it how he manage to survive.
5.   I love that Pi was in a lifeboat with those animals, i found it very unreal but interesting

6.   The part of the book that I find very interesting was, when Pi tell us about his life in the zoo, because i really find very curious the way that Pi think.

7.   The part of the book that I enjoy the must, when Pi make his schedule of the day in the life boat, he distracted hisfelf the most innorder for not going crazy.

8.    The first day of Pi in the college I like the personality that he have when he stand up in front of the class and draw his "name".

9.  I love the way Jann Martel describes how he meet Pi and Know all of his story.

10.  I like all the book it is very unusual, it`s a diferent story but vey interesting, I recomend it because it make you think about diferent things in diferent parts of the story.

For the second image I chose the flag of Canada because on page 102, chapter 38, Pi talks about how excited he is going to Canada. “Canada, here I come!” (Page 102) . Personally o chose it because I found interesting Canada because my cousins live there

In the third image I chose a lifeboat lost in the middle of nowhere because in chapter 41 Pi told that they were lost in a lifeboat, and personally I chose it because I found interesting the idea of being trapped in a lifeboat in the middle of nowhere.  

For the fourth image I chose a picture of a very dangerous shark because Pi saw in the life boat many of the sharks. (Page 107). Personally I chose it because the sharks are very dangerous and in some way they are cutes.

For the fifth image I chose a survival kit because the survival kit saved him from death and personally I considered that the survival kit is very important to any emergency its essential to our daily life.

For the last image I chose a sick man because pi was very sick as well as trying to survive, personally I chose it because I think that he is very strong by making all the things he can to survive.

For the first photo I took a picture of the aid kit of my house because it is very useful to Pi in the storm, and it personally it’s very useful to me when I`m sick.

The second photo I took when I was in Santa Marta and it is the photo of the dangerous dark sea, i chose it because Pi was lost there, personally I find it very scary .

For the third photo I take from a church because Pi in chapter 63 pg 109 resumes his day for us but I symbolize the pray and show it like a church.

For the fourth photo I decided to take a man trying to catch fish,because Pi in all the chaptes is tying to catch a fich to eat something.



For the five photo I take it from my cat because the cats are like brothers of the tigers and in pg 206 chapter 72 Pi told us that Richard Parker have to be train by him in order not to be killed.

And for my last photo I took it from an stressed  boy because I think Pi was stress about being in the life boat.

“I love Canada, I miss the heat of India.” (P.6,chapter 1)                                                                                                
 For the first image I chose the flag of Canada because obviously Pi said he loves Canada but he misses India. The image I chose is related to me because my cousins live there and I want to go there.

 “He tried to teach my parents to swim..” (P.8, chapter 3)                                                                                  
For my second image I chose a baby trying to swim, because Pi said their parents never go beyond wading. Personally I chose it because when I was baby I love to swim.

“.. I drew a large circle, which I then sliced in two with a diameter...” ( P.23 chapter 5)  
For my 3^rd image I chose the symbol “pi” because Pi was trying to be known as these and I think it`s very interesting to try to be known as a mathematical symbol.

 “Consider the case of the female black leopard that escaped from the Zurich zoo...” (P. 41 chapter 10)                                                                                                                         
For my fourth image I chose people worried because I suppose people were really worried about a black leopard escaping. I chose it because I would be really really worried if I were in that situation.

 “So you see if you fall into a lions pit, the reason the lion will tear you to pieces is not because it’s hungry…” (pg 43 chapter 13)                                                                                               
For these one I chose a lion trainer because someone that would risk his life to train a lion is very brave, personally I admire the lion trainer because of that.    

“We prayed together and we practiced ahikr…” (pg 61 chapter 20)                                             
And for my last image I chose a lot of people praying because Pi is telling us that they are practicing ahikr a ceremony. Personally I chose it because I find it very interesting practicing new things.

 “Life is so beautiful that death has fallen in love with it …” (pg 6 chapter 1)                                     
 For my first picture I took it to a tree because it is biology, the tree represent life. Personally I chose it because the tree`s are the most beautiful thing that represent life.           

“Each name elicited a tick on a list on a brief mnemonic stare from the teacher. I was terribly nervous.” ( pg 22 chapter 5)                                                                                                        
For my second photo I took it to an anxious girl, because as Pi said, he was very nervous and it`s very hard to be new and with nobody who knows how to pronounce your name. Personally this happens to me in my first day at school.

 “Under any circumstances to touch a tiger, to pet a tiger…” ( pg 34 chapter 8)                                                     
 My third photo is from a warning advice because Piscine`s father don´t want Piscine to touch the tiger. Personally I chose it because I could not touch a tiger because they are very dangerous.        

“The more he bored me, the less I could forget Him.” (P.57, chapter 17)                                                              For my fourth photo I took it from a church because Pi is talking about Father Martin, personally I chose it because I relate both of them.

“Much hostile and aggressive behavior among animals is the expression of social insecurity.” ( pg 43 chapter 13)                                                                                                                   

 For my fifth picture I took a photo of my cat worried, because Pi is making reference to the attitude of animals and explaining why they become aggressive, personally I believe it is true because I believe that social insecurity bring hostile and aggressive behavior.

“It is this compliant animal, to the public no different from the others in size and apparent ferocity…” ( pg 45 chapter 14)                                                                                                                            

 Last I took it from a lot of people, I know Pi is talking about lions but personally I believe that we are not so different to them.
